Restricted Movement

This may also be called stiffness or reduced range of motion. It can be a reflection of a lack of use, a predisposing factor for injury or it could be a product of injury and associated tissue damage. The physiotherapist can measure and determine the cause of the restriction and whether it involves joint restriction, muscle restriction or some other associated tissue change. A suitable treatment strategy can then be used and may incorporate a range of motion exercises, manual therapy and education.
